Stories have connected people for thousands of years. But do all cultures tell stories in the same way?

In our Collaborative Research Centre, we trace narratives from antiquity, the Middle Ages, and the early modern period across a wide range of cultures and historical contexts. Our aim is to explore the foundations of a theory of narrative that moves beyond modern western assumptions and approaches, helping us better understand how, and for what purposes, people told stories in the past.
